About Me

Hi!

Welcome to my blog, thank you for taking the time to visit. I hope you like what you read. Here is a little bit about me. I am originally from Los Angeles and just returned after living three years in Oregon. I really missed the weather. I recently graduated from Lewis & Clark Law School where I focused on Public Interest Law. I have a B.A. in Government and Spanish from Smith College. Worked full-time for several years before transitioning to law school, although I knew at a young age that I wanted to study law.  Had my share of bumps along the way but nothing keeps me down, I am survivor and living is what I love to do. I was raised by two incredible women (my mom and grandma) and I learned at a young age that you have to earn everything in life, its not just handed down to you. I learned that dreams were reachable and all things are possible.  I have a strong religious background and believe that my relationship with God is what helps me get out of bed every morning. I believe that as much as we receive, we must give, so I try to be of service to others and do volunteer work. I love to be out in the community. I have a passion for both housing and employment law. I hope to pass the California Bar and be a public interest lawyer in the near future.

I love animals, with one exception: I have a serious fear of chickens, well really all birds.  I can manage to get by around pigeons but chickens and peacocks I cannot. It all started when I was a child, and I used to visit El Salvador.  My parents are from El Salvador, so we visited every year and at times stayed for a few months. Anyways, the chickens would run wild and they would chase me, really follow me all the way to the outdoor bathroom (people didn't have indoor bathrooms in the 80's), and I would never get there fast enough to close the door and lock them out so they would enter and peck at my feet while you know. So that is where the fear comes from. You would think I would have outgrown that fear, but I haven't. I have stories but won't share those here.

I cannot swim, never learned. My mom would enroll me in swimming lessons every summer and I never learned, had a fear of drowning so when we got to the lesson of putting your face underwater, I would just stand there and watch everyone else do it. So I can float, and can even do a back stroke here and there but cannot really swim.

I love to read. I can spend the night reading, well except law school text books. I read those out of necessity not really because I enjoy those dull cases.
